The Moroccan American Business Council Ltd. organized a "Round table on Technology Transfer and Higher Education". In cooperation with: The Massachusetts Trade Office, WorldBoston, Boston University, & the World Affairs Council. Date May 19th 2000.
Synopsis: Doing Business in Morocco is one of the newly emerging markets in the Middle East as a result of its liberal economy and geostrategic position. Morocco is the "natural bridge between the Western and Islamic worlds" and serves as the gateway to European, African and Middle Eastern markets. As an active player in international trade, it is no coincidence that the creation of the World Trade Organization took place in Morocco in April 1994. The Kingdom of Morocco confirms its convictions and pursues its initiative to achieve peace and prosperity in the area and in the world. Morocco ranks 64th for U.S. exports and, as of the first three quarters of 1998, is currently enjoying a 27.8% increase in exports from the U.S. from this same time period last year. Massachusetts exports to Morocco have been dismal. Presently, according to MISER statistics, exports have decreased 36.7% for the first three quarters of 1998 compared to this same time period last year. The current Massachusetts export value to Morocco is only $1.4 million. Morocco is Massachusetts 88th largest export market. Subsequently, there is plenty of room to increase bilateral trade.

Visit of U.S. Ambassador Edward Gabriel to Boston. Luncheon, business seminar and reception. 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the reception, the Ambassador will speak about Morocco investment climate and political climate. February 9th 2000, Swissotel, Boston. 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.Sponsored by the Global Business Alliance of New England, the international networking evening regularly attracts over 500 companies involved in international business. The evening will feature an international resource center with more than 45 intertional trade associations and organizations representing over 7000 New England companies.
